Flaws? Or Potential? By CJ Golden
Welcome to 2010 – a new year, a new decade. And, just how, I ask you, did this all happen so quickly? Wasn’t it only a few months ago that we were ushering in a new millenium; worrying about computers crashing with the onset of Y2K?
Well, we did survive the onset of the 21st century. And we did survive its first decade – one that was fraught with a multitude of challenges.
New Year's Resolutions
I am against New Year's resolutions as a rule. Why? Because we set ourselves up for failure every time. The idea that at the beginning of the New Year you have to make yourself change is not a good way to make change. For example, many people want to lose weight for the New Year. Losing weight is not a horrible goal but we often set the number too high – 50 pounds a year should be an obtainable goal but most people don’t want to lose 50 pounds over the year, they want to lose 50 pounds by summer or 10 pounds in a week.
Spa Gifts: Neti Pots
It seems counter-productive to pour salt water into your nose for health but Indian medicine has proven that washing your nasal passages out with a saline solution prevents allergies and illnesses. A Neti Pot is a small tea pot with a long spout designed to pour a designated amount of saline into your nostril. The water runs from one nostril to the other and out of your body.
Spa Gifts DIY: Milk Bath
It's that time of year, again. The time to hunt for the perfect gift. Take it easy on yourself and give a spa gift. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing gifts you can make and a few that you can buy (or both).
InterCourses an aphrodisiac cookbook
This book may not be a new book but it's one that still gets mentioned now and again. I was so excited to see it at the library since I would never have the guts to purchase this book without giving it a thorough once over. I am glad I did.
The recipes are nice and most of them are simple, elegant recipes. They are worth getting a hand on the book. However, the book is poorly laid out. The chapters make little sense and there is so much dialogue and font changes that the recipes get lost.
