...along with the that overlooked, underused, empty project-waiting to happen space on top of kitchen cabinets....the underutilized, bare, not-really-sure-what-to-do with space on top of armoires and other large pieces of furniture is one of the most challenging to decorate...

...here's several suggestions for this space:

(1) Think varying heights...even though the space is up high...use books and objects that are not all the same size to create visual interest.

(2) A collection of wooden boxes (or clocks or white enamel pitchers...any incredible collection)...is a fabulous way to unify the space.

(3) Create a theme for your room with objects that relate to each other as in this travel-themed bedroom's grouping of maps.

(4) Lastly, (this one is simple...but oh so effective)...simply stack a large wicker basket on top and fill with dried flowers of the season.
